History

Flinter started in 1989 with a 3,000-ton coaster, the MS Flinterborg. Throughout the years, Flinter has grown into an international shipping company and currently has over 50 vessels under management.

Expanding fields of operation
The growth in providing maritime services coincided with the extension of our fields of operation. Flinter's expertise was increasingly called upon in various interrelated fields, including nautical and technical management, crewing, financing as well as sale and purchase brokering. Flinter's way of managing its own vessels appealed to the market. Today, we support an ever widening circle of captain-owners and shipping companies.

Own chartering
Rotterdam based Ancora Shipping, founded in 1997, soon became a leading shipping and freight forwarding company. In 2000, Flinter took a majority stake in Ancora Shipping. Some time later this became 100% . Ancora Shipping NV was founded in Antwerp in 2002. Since September 2006, Ancora Shipping and Flinter have been active together under one name: Flinter.

Offices
Since 2006, we have been working from our head office in Barendrecht, the Netherlands (clearly visible along the motorway A29), and from offices in Antwerp, Vaasa, Helsinki and Helsingborg.
