Management Team

The management team of Flinter consists of A.H.J. (Bart) Otto (CEO), Reinder J.L. van der Veen (CFO), Cor A. Romijn (Chartering) and Alcuin B.T.M. de Weert (Ship Management).

Bart Otto
Born in Gouda on 14 February 1965, Bart Otto studied business economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam. In 1996, he also obtained the title of chartered accountant. After his studies of business economics, he fulfilled his military obligation in the Royal Navy. In 1991, he joined Shell, where he worked for 14 years in several senior positions in the Netherlands and South Africa. His last position was that of Manager Shell Marine Products Benelux, UK & Ireland. In early 2005, he moved to Flinter, where he began as Assistant Director Ancora Shipping. In 2006, he joined the board of directors (Statutory Director of Flinter Groep BV and Flinter Beheer BV), and in October 2007 he was appointed CEO. His father, Bert Otto, is one of the founders of Flinter.

Reinder van der Veen
Reinder van der Veen was born in Groningen on 4 April 1965. He studied business economics (main subject financing and accounting). After his studies, he worked for 3 years with SNS Bank in Groningen (Mortgage Advice and Corporate Services). In 1991, he went to ING Bank in Groningen, where he worked as an account manager for small and medium-sized companies, account manager Shipping and relationship manager Companies & Institutions respectively. In 2000, Reinder van der Veen joined Flinter. He currently works for Finance, Accounting, Investor Relations, Human Resources and General & Technical Support Services. Reinder van der Veen is Statutory Director of Flinter Groep BV and Flinter Beheer BV.

Cor Romijn
Cor Romijn was born in Papendrecht on 4 December 1964. After completing nautical college in Rotterdam, he worked for 5 years as a navigating officer. Since 1988, he has worked with several shipping companies in different commercial on-shore positions. In 1997, he joined Ancora Shipping, where the commercial management of the Flinter fleet was placed in 2000. Thus, Cor Romijn set up Flinter's commercial on-shore organization and made it grow into what it is today. Cor is a Managing Director of Flinter Shipping BV, Flinter Chartering BV and Flinter Agencies BV, and he is responsible for all commercial cargo activities.

Alcuin de Weert
Alcuin de Weert was born in Valburg on 30 June 1966. After completing his studies at the De Ruijter Maritime Academy, he started sailing with Wijsmuller. After a number of years at sea as Chief Engineer, he became a Superintendent and subsequently deputy General Manager Fleet Operations with Dockwise. At the Rotterdam School of Management, he obtained an MBA. At Grootint (part of Heerema Groep), he was appointed Managing Director. Since 1 March 2011, Alcuin de Weert has been Managing Director with Flinter Management BV. He is responsible for all activities in the ship management field: Crewing, Technical, Quality and Purchasing.
